WHAT IS XYLITOL?

The word Xylitol comes from the Greek roots xylo- which means “wood” and “–itol” signifying sugar alcohols. So you might have already figured it out. Yes, it is birch sugar. From trees, cool huh? Xylitol is sourced from birch trees or corncobs. Xylitol is used as a natural alternative to sugar with its 1:1 sweetness ratio.  It has virtually no effect on blood sugar and insulin levels.  And another benefit is that it has 40% fewer calories than sugar. Win win!
